About the Show
University Dance Company’s annual Fall Dance Concert focuses on work by current WCU dance faculty and professional guest artists with selected student work.

Audition Dates:
Attend either the Tuesday or Wednesday audition.

  • Tuesday, August 26, 2025 | 7:00 – 9:00pm
    • For new incoming students and any student who has performed with University Dance Company (UDC) for only one semester.
  • Wednesday, August 27, 2025 | 7:00 – 9:00pm
    • For Tuesday callbacks and all upperclassmen who have performed with University Dance Company (UDC) for at least one semester.

Rehearsals & Performances:

  • Rehearsals begin: September 2, 2025
  • Show Dates:
    • November 7, 2025 at 7:30pm
    • November 8, 2025 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm

Important Information:

  •  Arrive 20–30 minutes early to sign in, receive a number, and warm up.
  • No need to prepare anything in advance.
  • You will be taught two combinations in a contemporary/modern/jazz style and perform them in small groups.

About the Show
Based on the life of Louisa May Alcott, Little Women, The Broadway Musical tells the heartfelt story of the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy—as they grow up together during the time of the Civil War. With dreams of becoming a writer, Jo struggles to get her stories published. Encouraged by her friend, Professor Bhaer, to write from the heart, Jo crafts a touching tale inspired by the lives, laughter, and challenges she shares with her sisters. A timeless coming-of-age story filled with warmth, courage, and family bonds—perfect for audiences of all ages.

Plan to attend the Wednesday evening audition.

Important Information & Preparations:

  • For September 3 audition, prepare 32 measures of one song in the style of the show or a song that speaks to the essence of a character of your choosing.
  • No movement audition will be held on September 3.
  • Callbacks will include a movement call, song cut(s) from the show, and a short book scene (to be announced with the callback list).

About the Show
Welcome to the 30th Floor classroom of Wayside School – a place that was accidentally built sideways, where the 19th story may or may not exist, and the mean Mrs. Gorf can turn children into apples. Louis Sachar’s beloved collection of short stories about very relatable elementary school kids in very unbelievable situations comes to life onstage. Get ready for fun surprises, laughs, coming of age lessons, mashed potatoes, and maybe even a ghost. This production is fun for the whole family!

  • Callbacks: Friday, September 5, 2025 | 6:00 – 10:00pm
    • (An additional audition date of Thursday, September 4 may be used if September 3 fills.)

Important Information & Preparations:

For initial audition, prepare a contemporary comedic monologue, no more than one minute in length. Callbacks will consist of sides from the script, which will be assigned when callbacks are announced.

Multiple opportunities from one audition:

  • From this audition, the director will also be looking to cast roles for Sacco and Vanzetti: A Tragedia dell’Arte at Curio Theatre in Philadelphia (Spring 2026).
  • Paul Kuhn, Artistic Director of Curio Theatre, will be in attendance. | Callbacks for Sacco and Vanzetti will take place at a later date.
  • Roles available for Sacco and Vanzetti are the following: Sacco and Vanzetti look-alikes, Defense Attorney Fred Moore, Jury Foreman, Celestino F. Madeiros, Maynard Shaw, Italian immigrant defense witnesses, Beltrando Brini, Governor Fuller, Benito Mussolini, Michael Dukakis, Countee Cullen, Edna St. Vincent Millay
