PROMISE PROGRAM PURPOSE

The WCU Promise Program is a campus support program serving unaccompanied homeless and foster youth who are in need of housing support year-round. The program supports students with access to break housing on campus, food and supplies from the Resource Pantry, priority employment opportunities, access to emergency funds after financial aid has been exhausted, and monthly programming that provides mentorship and opportunities to engage with peers and guest speakers.

WHO QUALIFIES FOR THE PROMISE PROGRAM?

FOSTER YOUTH: 

Students who are currently in or are coming from foster care and are in need of additional supports such as break housing qualify for the Promise program. 

UNACCOMPANIED HOMELESS YOUTH

Students who qualify for a McKinney-Vento homeless youth determination are those who are unaccompanied (without a relationship with biological parents), homeless (lacking adequate nighttime residence) youth (under the age of 24).
