Biography

Curry Malott attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, from 1996 to 2004 where he received a Master's Degree in Sociology and a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction. Trained in Freirean pedagogy Dr. Malott is best known for his contributions to Marxism and revolutionary education.
 
Dr. Malott’s Master’s thesis, a content analysis of progressive punk rock music lyrics, became his first book, Punk rocker’s revolution: A pedagogy of race, class and gender. Dr. Malott has never stopped promoting revolutionary culture from radical approaches to education to music and skateboarding. Working not only as a researcher but as a participant Dr. Malott continues to not only skateboard, but he stays engaged as a community organizer.
 
Before coming to West Chester University in 2011, Dr. Malott published and taught in the foundations of education and social studies at Brooklyn College/CUNY, D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY, and Queens College/CUNY.

Area of Instruction

Dr. Malott teaches in the history of education, educational psychology, and revolutionary pedagogy.

Publications and Professional Activities

Dr. Malott's most recent book is A history of education for the many: From colonialism and slavery to the decline of the U.S. empire, which is available open access at Bloomsbury Collections.
