I am also available as a faculty mentor for students pursuing an original research project through the University's Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI) in an area in or near my own research interests.

Biography

I am a linguist who studies the intersection of language, culture, and society, with a focus on English and Yiddish speakers in the United States. My current research looks at the use of singular 'they' and other non-binary pronouns in English, especially among trans and non-binary speakers, as well as issues related to contemporary Yiddish language learning. I have also looked at different uses of gesture and the body in social interaction; language in digital/online spaces; issues of language and sexual consent; and discourse markers in English.
